The Office of the Academic Dean was created in 1948. The first Academic Dean was Sr. Jutta Hollenbeck. Sr. J. Dolores Brunner (then known as Sr. M. Povidencia) became Alverno's second Academic Dean in 1959. Sr. J. Dolores Brunner was Academic Dean during a period of great growth and development for Alverno College.
